🧭 Field Notes from a Hybrid Mind
On Data, Metamorphosis, and Learning to See Differently
This isn’t a tutorial.
This is a dispatch from the soft underbelly of change — the part where the former version of yourself doesn’t quite know what to do with her hands yet.
Where the mind that once spun metaphors for a living is now parsing bounce rates and conversion funnels, trying to understand what attention even looks like in the age of algorithms.
For me, it started with Google Analytics.
Not because I wanted it to — but because the next phase of my work required it.
I’ve spent decades using words to illuminate the invisible.
But now, I’m being asked to illuminate the quantifiable.
To see through two lenses at once — poetic and patterned, story and signal.
And let me tell you:
There is no language quite as alien as the one you didn’t grow up speaking.
Especially when that language is numbers.
But then I remembered something.
Change — true change — rarely feels triumphant when you’re in it.
It’s awkward.
Uncomfortable.
There are coffee-stained notebooks and 2 a.m. Googlings.
There’s the moment you realize you’ve watched the same 5-minute YouTube tutorial four times, and you still don’t quite get it.
And that, I now understand, is the very heart of metamorphosis.
It’s not a glow-up.
It’s a dismantling.
In another era, I might have taken up a new trade or moved across the country.
Today, my chrysalis lives in a browser tab marked “GA4 Dashboard.”
I’m learning to see what’s been invisible to me for years:
Where people actually pay attention
What they linger on
When they leave
And what might bring them back
And in doing so, I’m discovering something deeper:
This isn’t just about analytics.
It’s about seeing yourself differently.
Not just as a creator, but as a systems thinker.
Not just as a writer, but as a strategist.
Not just as a woman with a message, but as a woman with a map.
You might be somewhere similar.
Learning new tools not because you wanted to,
but because the world changed — and staying still was no longer an option.
So here’s my invitation:
Come with me.
We’ll learn to count what matters.
We’ll learn to track the signals.
We’ll learn to turn insight into influence.
And along the way, we’ll build something wiser, stronger, and yes — even more beautiful.
Even if your blood type is zero.
